Customers in several international markets were receiving dual invoices for the same transactions — a fragmented, confusing billing experience that also meant reasoning about tax compliance across two separate invoice paths per market instead of one.
I authored the high- and low-level designs to consolidate dual invoicing into a single, unified invoice across these international markets — including Brazil, whose tax regime is widely regarded as one of the most complex in the world. Getting this design right meant reasoning carefully about edge cases across markets with very different regulatory requirements before a single line of implementation code was written.
